What is the metropolitan fare?

The metropolitan fare allows you to use integrated one-zone tickets for journeys on public transport between the 36 municipalities (18 in the first ring and 18 in the second ring) that make up the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB).

Where does the metropolitan fare apply?

If the origin or destination of my journey is NOT one of the 36 metropolitan municipalities, does the metropolitan fare apply to me?

No, in this case it does not apply to you: in a journey between any municipality of the AMB and a municipality of the fare system external to the metropolitan region, the current zoning of the system is maintained.

If I make a journey in which the origin and destination are municipalities of the AMB but it includes a change in a municipality that does not belong to the AMB, can I use a one-zone ticket?

No, when one of the stages of the journey takes place in a municipality that does not belong to the AMB, the metropolitan fare does not apply. For example: for the journey from Cerdanyola Universitat to Sant Andreu de la Barca with Rodalies de Catalunya, changing to the FGC at Martorell (a municipality external to the AMB), the metropolitan fare does not apply, even though the origin and destination are metropolitan municipalities.

To what tickets does the metropolitan fare apply?

It applies to all the integrated tickets of the ATM (except the T-16) and the single tickets of the transport operators. It does not apply to the operators’ multi-journey tickets (for example, the Bonotren of Rodalies de Catalunya/Renfe), the subsidised tickets of the AMB of the first ring (T-rosa, T-4 and Companion Pass) and the FGC pensioners’ passes and FGC pensioners’ cards, which continue to be exclusive to the first ring.

Does the metropolitan fare apply to the T-16?

No, the T-16 continues to be valid only within the fare zone of residence of the young person.

If your provisional card expires and you haven’t received your definitive card, you can ask for it in person, showing the provisional card to any station agent or at the offices of TRAM, TMB, FGC and Rodalies.

You can also ask for it from the bus drivers of the urban and interurban services of all the zones, with the exception of TMB drivers.

This information is available only in Catalan or Spanish.

In the case of an incident when stamping the card (non-valid ticket, illegible information, etc), you will need to seek assistance from the railway station staff, the bus driver or a customer service office. They will verify the incident and give you a replacement card with the same expiry date and number of remaining journeys as those of the faulty card.

The T-16 is a free integrated transport card for children and youths between ages 4 and 16 for the fare zone in which they live. If the child/ youth lives in one of the municipal areas of fare zone 1, you may request the card here. If he / she lives in one of the municipal areas of any of the fare zones between 2 and 6, you may request the card here. We explain it in this vídeo.

Once you have begun to use an integrated transport ticket, it cannot be exchanged. This rule is set forth in the corresponding regulations of the DOGC (Official Gazette of the Catalan Government) governing Fares.

Please use this link to consult the documents that you will need to present and where you request your invoice. Please remember that the original ATM transport tickets must be presented when requesting an invoice.

Even if you have the documentation with proof of purchase or an official report of the theft of a ticket in the case of a lost or stolen card, duplicate tickets and compensation are not possible.

The fact that the holder's National ID card number is printed on personalised cards (T-mes, T-jove, T-trimestre) serves only to accredit the ownership of the person carrying the card in case requested to do so by a transport inspector.

Magnetic band technology on paper support does not make it possible to render useless or cancel a card.

You will need to go to one of the discounted T-mes points of sale. Click hereto find one. There are certain restrictions to the sale of the discounted T-mes ticket. If the system does not accept a sale in your name, it may be due to the fact that the minimum term between purchases has not elapsed or the certificate that you presented to prove you employment situation has expired.
